The stars at night are big and bright.

Make money working from home with your love of the starry sky.  There is something for you no matter what your level of understanding of the sky. There is money to made in a business involved in stars.  Find your niche.  Package your knowledge and ability to teach about the night sky with something more down to earth as an entrepreneur. Keep up with the night sky though "Tonight's Sky".

People have studied the stars since the beginning of time.  There is a fascination with our night sky.  You will find a sense of excitement and challenge as you, too, study the stars.  What is out there in space?  Maybe you will travel into space someday. Entrepreneurs are making it happen. Read what Sir Richard Branson is doing with SpacePort America in New Mexico.

There is a sense of romance under a canopy of twinkling stars.  We stick paper and/or plastic star cut outs on the ceilings over our kids’ beds.  We paint beautiful night skies with clouds over our beds.  One of the first things we learn to draw as children is a five-pointed star.  As children, we draw pictures with stars and the moon in the sky.  We love stars.  Turn this into a profitable business.

Visit an observatory and get inspired.  Find out more at "Star Date" published by McDonald Observatory in west Texas.    Go to a planetarium.

 Organize Star Gazing Tours

Once you have acquired a basic knowledge of the heavens, you can sell what you know to inspire others.  Organize a star gazing club. Collect fees to cover your time and expenses.  Organize star tours.  Travel out of town to a preselected remote area away from the big city lights.  Turn your van into a "space ship". You are the tour guide.  Talk. Teach. Sing. Bring food and snacks (Wilky Way and Milk Way Midnight candy bars).

Take pictures and then use this site to find out what planets are in your photo.  Read about Astronomy.net.

Host Romantic Dinners Under the Stars

Organize romantic dinners under the stars for couples celebrating anniversaries (or other romantic occasion).  Set up a dining table in the old gazebo.  Play romantic music.  There is no restaurant in town that can compete with a romantic dinner under the stars.  Or have a less formal picnic under the stars for families.

You create the place and set the atmosphere.  You are the entertainment as you talk about the stars, sing about the stars, or read poetry about the stars. Explain what is happening in the night sky on the very night of your dinner.  Show your guests how the stars are aligned.  Make a special record of the night sky for your guests to keep as a momento of this special evening.  Make a note of a special occurrence.  For example, Christmas Eve 2007 Mars was very bright in the night sky as it was lined up exactly across from the sun.  It will not be so aligned nor so bright again for 9 more years.

If you need and cannot get a special permit to serve the food that you make, then have the dinner catered by a resturant in town.  Then all you have to do is to create the romantic setting.  Dangle stars from the ceiling of the gazebo or canopy you set up. Use a rotating light that puts stars up on the ceiling.  Make your guests feel like stars -- the stars of the show.

Get the licenses that you need and your very own kitchen so that you can create romantic dinners uder the stars.  See our Home Cooking Caterer page for more ideas.

Create a really special dinner on evenings when there is a full moon.  Serve moon pies for dessert. Try a Milk Way Cake for dessert. Below in the "Links" section are resources for you to use in cooking, such as star molds for cakes.

Slice apples crossways so that the star inside is visible.  Sprinkle powdered sugar (star dust) on a chocolate cake (the night sky).

Create your own special plates using these kits.

Make Star Jewelry and Star Crafts to Sell

Maybe making star jewelry will interest you and a profitable craft hobby will be yours.  Or make soap using the star molds.  Also, you gotta love the stars you can create from paper using the patterns from the wonderful site listed below.  You can make and sell the stars, but all patterns have a copyright on them so you cannot profit from the patterns.

Create a Line of Starry Eyed Love Notes

love note

Design a line of love notes called "Out of this World", "Stars in my Eyes", or some such title, for example.  Include a fact about one of the stars or planets in each one.  Help people understand the stars in every way possible

Where to Advertise your Business

Your tours and dinners will be offered locally, so advertise locally in newletters and newspapers.  Post notes on bulletin boards.  Maked certain that schools and youth groups know about your tours.  Advertising is important for entrepreneurs.  Folks have to know about you.

Your local chamber of commerce might want to advertise your business (free) as a draw for tourists.

Sell your starry-eyed love notes and star jewelry to shops around the world.  Go to trade shows or contact shops individually.
