Backyard EntrepreneurTM Audio and Video Technician A little night music
Make money at home using your sound recording equipment. Not only can you record the music your band plays, but there are many other ways to use your recording equipment. Make Historical Nature Sound Recordings to Sell Buy the best system possible and record the sounds in your backyard, then sell your recordings: Bird sounds, night sounds with crickets and frogs. Rain storms, too. When you are away from home, it will be nice to have the sounds of home at your finger tips. Great gift ideas for those who have to leave home temporarily. Every location has its own special sounds. You don't want to get homesick for the sounds of your frogs and birds. Neither would all the friends and relatives who are away. Sell the sounds of you town to a far away place. How about the sounds of the birds and the Brazos River heard in Moscow or London?. We are all friends when we listen to nature. Be specific when naming your sounds. Instead of using something vague like "Gentle Rain", be exact. For example, use "December 14, 2007 rain falling on tin roof of Old Joe Smith's barn out on Highway 10 south of North Village, Texas". "January 15, 2007 ducks at feeding time at South Lake's community pond, Idaho" sounds better than just "Ducks". You get the idea. You have then recorded an historical document of the sounds of your area. In twenty years it will be interesting to compare the sounds at the community pond when the new freeway goes by and there are no ducks, just the sounds of honking horns and the whizzing sounds of tires. What sounds can you record? birds and frogs in your backyard, crickets and cicadas on a summer night, barking dogs next door, barking squirrels chasing a cat out of a tree, rivers, streams, waterfalls, rain, storms, factory sounds, old-style cash registers at the pizza shop, traffic on main street, traffic on the nearby freeway, kids on a playground, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, newspaper printing presses, all kinds of sounds of commerce, and so forth. Create Guessing Games to Sell
We hear, but we do not listen. We are inundated with sounds. Create recorded sounds for listeners to identify. Play the sound. Give the answer. Play the sound again. Then go to the next sound. Learn to identify bird songs this way. Record voices. Can you name all the politicians, school board members, teachers, principals, and ministers in your area just by their voices? Record all the members of your class reading the words of the school song. Can you match voice and name? Will you be able to do this in twenty years? Record clips from very famous poems, movies, or speeches. Can you name the author? Record clips from various events in a single year: Sporting events, sermons, a school board argument, a parade, political campaign speeches, a band concert, and so forth. Video Histories Make a video of your town today. Put it in the library for viewing years down the road. Record narratives of older residents. Make a historical movie. How to Advertise your Business Because you have created a sound and or video history of your locale, your newspaper will probably be willing to write a news story about your business and you can get free advertising. Offer to make speeches at the local service clubs like Rotary or Lions Clubs. Prepare a program and share your recordings with study clubs, garden clubs, or history clubs. If you want to sell your recordings around the nation and the world, you will need a website to advertise your product. Check out this site for ideas.
