Backyard Bed and Breakfast Host Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.
Make money working at home by hosting sleepovers, campouts, and with luxurious bed and breakfast packages. Here is a site that tells how it is done. Host Campouts and Sleepovers This is a fancy way of saying ‘campout’? Who says you have to sleep inside every night? No matter what size yard you have, there must be some place you can set up a tent -- or two. There is nothing that says you have to drive off into another county so you can sleep in a tent. Nothing says that only kids can sleep in a tent in their backyards. This can be fun for people of all ages. You can even give camping and firebuilding instructions to others. The really great thing about sleeping outside is that there is no TV -- hopefully. You get to talk to each other. Build a campfire. Have a western roundup kind of a meal like stew, beans, or chili with cornbread. Sing some songs. Roast marshmallows. Set up a serious operation, organize the campout, plan some activities, invite lots of people. Collect a fee -- a big fee. Services rendered and value added.
People need to get out of the house. They need a bit of fresh air to clear their heads. Well, the great outdoors is just out the back door. Give them an opportunity to enjoy it. Find a relative or friend a day's drive from your house and set up the next stop for folks on vacation. Plan out a route all across the U.S.A. This would be much cozier than the commercial campgrounds because it would be like a bed and breakfast where the folks are friendly and accommodating. Set up a network with family and friends. You could be in the city or out in the country. Kicker is -- you have to sleep outside. Rough it. It is exhilarating. Create this network and advertise it through your newsletter.
Host those campouts and sleepovers. Just roll out the sleeping bags. Or let your guests bring their own tents. Provide trash cans so they do not leave a mess. You will need a fire pit to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Build a pool and a hot tub. Create a maze using shrubs for the kids.
Provide hook ups for recreational vehicles. Breakfast really tastes good outside! Make it a feast. Play games with giant game pieces which you can either order online or make yourself. Tell scary stories and sing songs around the campfire. In honor of all the wildlife in your backyard, host a bird party. Especially celebrate National Bird Day, January 5, 2008, and International Migratory Bird Day, May 10, 2008. Wake up to the sounds of the birds in the trees overhead. Celebrate the Great American Backyard Campout Night June 28, 2008 sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation. Invite folks over to your backyard -- for a fee, of course -- to celebrate with you.
Offer a Luxurious Campout Package
You might want to consider offering two packages -- one for the rough and tumble kind of folks, and then another kind of package for the pampered scardy cats. The rough and tumble kinds can take care of themselves.
Offer extra services for the pamered set. Offer tent (room) service. If not full tent service, then you might want to help them at least start the fire and make the s'mores. You will need to get the breakfast started for the papmered guests and encourage them to help stir the eggs just to let them experience the thrill of outdoor cooking. Or if they don't go for that, serve them a really fancy meal in bed. Charge $400 a night for the full service campout. You might need to offer electric blankets in this package deal. They will want to feel all the comforts of being at home in bed, if possible. Provide hot private showers.
Teach Camping Skills and Fire Safety It takes great organizational skills to plan a camping trip. Teach people how to do it. Teach camp cooking and fire safety. Teach how to pack and unpack; teach how to set up and take down a tent; teach how to avoid animals and mosquitos. Design, Make, and Sell Tents and Tepees Make your own special designs for use at your bed and breakfast. Make (or have manufactured for you) extra to sell. How to Advertise your Bed and Breakfast Create a newsletter to mail out -- first to family and friends. Ask them for others to add to your mailing list -- those who like to camp or visit bed and breakfast operations. Notify teacher groups. Notify day care and pre schools. This is a really neat idea for parents who want to find something unusual for a family outing. Offer packages to groups such as boy scouts or girl scouts. Church youth groups will be interested, too. Set up a website or a blog to tell the world about your unusual bed and breakfast. See our Scout page (where to sell your stuff) for website and design resources. Offer discouts to traveling students who want to see the world yet save money by not staying in a hotel Design and make your own special plates and accessories for your bed and breakfast. Use, sell, and advertise. © Backyard EntrepreneurTM 2007
