  Backyard Junkyard Dealer

Chase after these ideas like a junkyard dog.

junkyard dog

Make money as an entrepreneur working from home by collecting and selling junk -- pure, beautiful, and delightful junk -- as a junk dealer. Before you get started, find out if you need a license to deal in junk as many locale require it.

Junkyard Dog Junk Collector

If you need inspirtaion for this venture, watch the reruns of Red Foxx'x old TV show, "Sanford and Son".  You are not going to have a real junkyard, of course.  You are going to keep it neat and organized.

Put an ad in your local newspaper or neighborhood newsletter.  You will haul off junk -- what you can use.  You are not a trash collector, but you might have to haul off some trash in the process of getting to the good stuff.  Start out small.  You do not have to compete with 1-800-JUNK.  There's more than enough junk in the USA to go around for everyone. Place flyers all around town telling people that you  clean out  garages, basements, entire closets, and rooms.

Where to Sell Your Junk

Advertise what you get so everyone can buy the junk that you have.  Sell on the Internet to expand your customer base. You are selling pure junk here, not turning what you have into treasures; that is another career.  You can combine the two.  Sometimes folks do not understand that there is value in pure junk that has not yet been converted.  Folks who want to create their own creations, need a supplier of good junk. That is what this business is all about.  To see finished junk products go to our Trash to Treasure page.  Contact art schools and studios so that they will use you as a supply source for all art needs.

So, exactly what is good junk and where do you get it? Here's a partial list:

Nuts, bolts, giant nails, railroad spikes, old construction tools
Gears from machines, computer parts, bike parts, old chains
Old chain link fence posts and parts
Old cars and car parts
Swinging cafe style doors, solid wood front doors, doors with window glass (beveled is better)
All kinds of metal frames and rods

See what you can identify in this picture:
