Backyard EntrepreneurTM Master Gilder There is no gilding of setting sun or glamour of poetry to light up the ferocious and endless toil of the farmers wives. -- Hamlin Garland
Interior Guilder You can apply leaf to almost any interior item -- ceilings, railings, picture frames, ceramics, to name a few. Place gold, copper, or silver leaf over petrified wood, acorns, sea shells, or other items from nature for interesting art pieces in your home. Before starting the project the items must be absolutely free of any dirt or dust. Soak them overnight in a mixture of bleach and water. Scrub until spotless. Make certain that dirt is out of all crevices. Rise. Allow to dry several hours. Paint the item evenly with a three-hour quick drying size (adhesive). It must be sticky when you apply the leaf. Cover completely so as not to leave any bald spots as the leaf will not stick. Clean your brush with mineral spirits.
Cut the leaf into small sections to make it easier to fit in and around corners, curves, and crevices Cover with a protective varnish so it will not tarnish. Exterior Guilder You must make certain that you provide a protective finish to weatherproof your item. Place leaf on railings, iron posts, and lighting fixtrues to add a decorative touch. © Backyard EntrepreneurTM 2007 Link to us.
