Make money as an entrepreneur at home setting up activities, games, and equipment for fun family activities as a family night business owner. 

Set Up Family Games and Entertainment

It is hard to set aside a night of the week to get the family together to play.  Sometimes it is because of conflicting schedules and sometimes because of differences in age and interests. Sometimes parents are just to busy to get the activities together. If family night is started just as soon as the babies are born and is held every week thereafter, children schedule their lives around this all-important night. Granted, it is harder to begin if the kids are older.  It is worth the effort.  Family night does not have to be anything elaborate -- card games will do -- along with food.

However, as a business owner, you can offer some variety.  Homes are not large enough to hold all the interesting kinds of game machines.  Your establishment can offer the game machines, the table games, the card games, plus a cozy home-like environment.  Add a  fireplace in the corner for conversation.  Be certain there are sofas, tables, rugs, and lamps.

This is not a place where parents drop off their kids on Friday nights.  Parents must come and stay the entire evening with the kids. 

Organize Learning Activities

Stay-at-home moms have the time to do the research to organize a really meaningful family night.  Working moms just do not have the time and the energy at the end of a long, demanding day.  Your job as the owner of this business will be to organize theme nights and get all the activities together.  For example, you will have a math night, a science night, a reading night, and so forth.  It will not be all fun and games.  Get the worksheets and activities all organized so that busy parents do not have to. Make ribbons and trophies to hand out.

  

Make a Mobius strip.  What happens when you cut all around down the center or all around one-third from the edge?

Make word puzzles, mazes, cryptograms and others with the help of Discovery.

Charge $5 - $10 per person.  Once you get going, you might have to accept reservations.  Think about franchising your operation. Go nationwide and international.

Sell Food for Thought 

Decorate refreshment tables with paper placemats that teach. See our page of placemat designs for an example.  Make and sell paper coasters that teach.

Math night:  Pizza Pi for fractions, pi, circumference, and diameter. 

Reading night:  sleeping bags on the floor with popcorn, cookies, and juice. 

Science:  What do space astronauts eat?  Tortillas, nuts, carrot sticks, fruit, juice. 

 Economics/Business night:  Pie graphs on pies, bar and line graphs on cakes.

Sell packets of paper placemats and coasters to parents to use at home using your unique designs that teach.
