Pool Maintainer

Chlorine is my perfume. --Author Unknown

Make money as an entrepreneur working at home maintaining pools.  Looks easy, sounds easy.  But it is not. This is one tough job.  All those chemicals have to be just right.  This is the time to really master water chemistry.  You’ll need test kits and all kinds of dip nets and brushes.

You will need to know the difference between the requirements of above-ground and in-ground pools. What to do when the water is just cloudy or deep green?  Algae is interesting and destructive stuff. There is more than one kind.  Become the algae expert.  If you don't know, ask questions, don't guess when it comes to pool water. You might end up spending lots of money throwing good chemicals after bad without any results.

 Clean Pools and Maintain Equipment

This is really rewarding work.  Nothing beats jumping into the crystal clear water of the perfect pool.  You’ll be rewarded in this line of work.  More folks would have a backyard pool if the work to keep it up was not so great and time consuming.  That is why you will find work.   You may want to start out working for a pool company just to learn the ropes.  Listen and learn and then you are on your own.  Your own boss.

Expand your business.  Teach people how to do this themselves.  There is lots of mystery about how to get the chemical mix just right.  Expand to keeping spas sparkling clean, too.

(Or if you like smaller projects, you can clean ponds and fountains for others.)

Sell Pool Related Products

Branch out.  You can do more than clean pools.  Sell all kinds of backyard products to your customers.  Towels, pool furniture, funny pool floats, and even pool games.  Provide a list and leave it every time you visit a pool to clean.
